Welden Andersen began his firearm training in 1958 when at 12 his best friend invited him to join the Junior NRA and come to the shooting events at the Marine Corp shooting range in San Diego, CA.
When Welden was 17 and just out of high school, he volunteered for the U. S. Marine Corp where his previous training helped him score the highest rating of expert in both pistol and rifle.
Fast-forward to 1997 and the kidnapping at gunpoint of his 24-year-old son by a young woman and her younger male accomplice. He was finally released and physically unharmed but emotional scars continue today for the Andersens.
Also, in 1999 a gunman began randomly shooting and killing people at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Family History Library in downtown Salt Lake City including an unarmed Church Security officer who died at the scene.
Purchasing a firearm and getting a Concealed Firearm Permit were the next steps in Welden's preparation for the unthinkable. Then came a wide range of Professional Firearm training courses, competitions to sharpen skills, and testing for the NRA and Utah Dept of Public Safety Firearms Instructor certifications. Welden then founded Self-Defense Solutions, L.L.C. in 2004 to assist everyday citizens with firearms training. With a passion for teaching, Welden has empowered others in gaining the confidence and skills they will need in today's ever-increasing violent world.
Self-Defense Solutions should be your choice for excellence in firearms training.
Training. Your life may depend on it.
